The annual tournament was held at Poole Park on 29th July for the county U18’s and U12’s.
The U12 singles was won by Mollyanna Trim with Josh Monks as runner up. The pairs winners were Evie New and Max Monks. Scarlet Wilson and Zach Waters were runners up. For some of these youngsters this was their first ever competition or tournament and their etiquette and skills were outstanding.
In the U18 singles saw a changing of the guard with Smaranda Rampelt taking over from her sister, Daria, when she beat Matthew Yarnold in the final. Not to be completely outdone Daria with her partner Zach Evens won the pairs final.
A big thanks to Bobbie Cover, Bowls Dorset Ladies President 2024, and Tony Ives, DYBA President, for their support, words of wisdom and encouragement during the day and to Bobby for presenting the certificates and Trophies to the youngsters.
As ever Poole Park were great hosts and events like this could not go ahead without the umpires, John and Vickie, and the volunteer markers Robin, Anita, Bob, Sue, Alan, Peter and Marc.
Julie Leake's comment: Spectators at the Annual Dorset Youth Bowls Academy tournament were witness to some spectacular bowling in the U18 and U12 events! The young players of the future were disciplined, enthusiastic and a credit to themselves their parents and coaches despite the hot weather.
